Some UK medical societies' websites are an absolute goldmine of useful study materials. Even though every medical school in the UK has a medical education society, some of them only function as a way of organizing study sessions. However, there are some that take this step further and start uploading useful resources to their website/ page for the students to use. And even though the majority hide their resources behind a paywall to ensure only paid members have access, there are some that have their resources widely available to the public. Some medical societies took the initiative to make proper websites and create their own mini question banks, the others stuck with the more traditional PDF-like format with links redirecting you to PowerPoints or Google Drives with notes. Either way, these resources allow one to have a direct look at what a given medical school is focusing on and what sort of questions and resources they are providing to their students.

Checking out these medical societies' study resources will not only allow you to widen your study resources pool to find the ones that are most helpful to you, but they also allow the students to compare themselves, their knowledge, and their syllabus to the students from the other medical schools. This is particularly useful in the context of the recent introduction of the Medical Licencing Assessment, a nationwide exam for graduating students who want to practice medicine in the UK, which all graduates will soon need to pass to get a job as a doctor.

The resources provided on the following websites are made by students themselves based on their lectures, resources provided by their own medical schools, tutorials, and exams from previous years. I went through all the medical societies' websites in search of free resources so you don’t have to. All you need to do now is simply have a look and decide if these are of any use to you and your studies!

Peer Teaching Society - The University of Sheffield

My own alma mater has an increasing in size amount of free resources on their peer teaching website which are widely available for students to download and study from. This was definitely one of the resources I used the most during my studies and I found that the presentations that they upload are very good quick revision resources to quickly recap main topic points before the exam.

Newcastle Medicine Society MedEdNCL

Absolutely amazing resource for question banks for both preclinical and clinical year students with a very easy-to-navigate website. Really impressed with this medical education society's resources and their dedication to helping others improve.

Norwich Medical Education Society

This website has a large amount of free study resources uploaded under their resources section. The majority comes as PowerPoint presentations, some however include links to further question banks. There is also a tab with useful websites under the resources section that medical students will certainly find very useful!

King’s College Medical Students’ Association

King’s College MSA has some freely available study resources under their Education tab which takes you to their PowerPoint presentation on Google Drive.

Royal Medical Society of the University of Edinburgh

Unfortunately majority of their study resources are only available to members - that being said there are a few notes available for download with access to all on their websites which are worth checking out

Let me know if you are aware of any other medical societies' free resources that could be added to this list by sending me an email at imustnotplaygod@gmail.com
